DISCIPLE OF DISCIPLINE
Hey all and welcome to my fourth blog.
Today, my blog page is been hijacked by Subbajja and Putti, the characters born out of my imagination and he is keen on sharing some of his personal experiences related to discipline with you all .Let us hear it from him.
Putti is my darling granddaughter. She fondly calls me Subbajja(Subbu grandfather)but she is totally opposite to me. I being a person with less education but more life experiences always observe putti’s everyday chores.
Her day starts with snoozing the alarm clock and going off to bed and later waking up late regretting her act. Hurriedly having breakfast with the smartphone in front of her with no knowledge of what she is stuffing inside her mouth and no interaction with the family. No concentration towards the online classes, always being distracted ,not following any of her resolutions for the new year, breaking promises, attending extra-curricular classes without practice, not eating her meals on time, sleeping late, not completing her works on time, being unorganized and ends with putting out all frustrations on the family.
When I ask her she says, ”Ajja, I am extremely sorry for my indiscipline, I will surely rectify my mistakes and start off fresh from tomorrow”. Tomorrow comes, but the same putti is seen with regrets on her face at the end of the day.
I am a person who has been a disciple of discipline from past 60 years and have experienced life better than Putti and believe that discipline is beyond the rules or strict notions. It’s more of self control than a forceful act. It should start within us. Success is only achieved when we all come out of our comfort zone. I always tell Putti to wake up early coming out of her cozy comfort zone. Putti’s dance teacher always say, ”there are hundreds of reasons for not wanting to do a work but there is only one reason to do it and that is ,you have to do it no matter what happens”. Training the mind to stop giving reasons is also a part of self-discipline.
Young kids like Putti should always be active, punctual and consistent, following a routine, good habits, manners. Organizing things is very important to maintain time discipline because like money, time also comes with a cost and value and this consists of discipline in my perception. It is said that like a muscle, discipline can be trained. The sum of ‘todays’ make up our whole life is what I have understood in my life, so, make the most out of a day being disciplined.
Putti is trying to be disciplined and I have confidence in her that she will make it up.
All the best to my Putti for being on her way to be a disciple of discipline and hope you all try to be one too.
Subbajja
Now I feel, even I should follow Subbajja's words and I found the above poem very realistic so I have added in here. Hence, I leave you here with this thought put in by Subbajja. If you have liked my blog feel free to share it.
