Hey and welcome to my sixth blog. I hope all are staying safe.
Today, I would like to share my precious secret recipe with you all(which now doesn't remain to be a secret anymore ;) .
When someone asks me on what I would like to have for my snacks, I go blank, because I don't eat anything in particular as such. As they say 'Necessity is the mother of Invention' , I learnt cooking for fulfilling my own crazy needs but now I love cooking because it caters to my taste buds, fills my stomach and also it is eventually an art that is aesthetic, therapeutic, and what not. But, to sum up, it has been a happy habit for me.
I like experimenting while cooking and most of the times I am supposed to use only limited items judiciously as wasting is absolutely not acceptable at my home.
I am a great fan of spices and love spicy food. So, most of the dishes I love to cook will be revolving around this liking of mine.
Since childhood after my father left, it was my mother who worked very hard to earn a living and take care of me and my brother. So, she would work outside and also come home and do tailoring work, as a result of which she would not find time to prepare us snacks or other delicacies. Kitchen was all open for me to learn and try new things and I was very happy. Now, let me just dive into the main content of this blog.
The recipe that I am going to share with you all today is called 'Chatpata kadlepuri' . The ingredients required are as follows:
- Coconut oil (the key ingredient)
- Asafoetida(also called hing to give a flavour)
- Salt(according to your taste)
- Turmeric powder(to give you a nice color and aroma)
- Chilli powder(makes it spicy and mouth watering)
- Chat masala( to give that tangy taste)
- Puffed rice (Kadlepuri )-The basic.
Note that there are two types of puffed rice available, one salty and the other one more or less, not so salty and mild. I prefer the latter one for this recipe due to its ability to imbibe in the ingredients we add to it.
In a round bottomed utensil, take some amount of puffed rice(according to your need) and add coconut oil generously (as the addition of it is directly proportional to the amazing taste that you get in the end) . 4-5 spoons if I would have to tell you the right measurement. Add a pinch of hing and just keep on turning it over using a spatula until it becomes little crispy. Then, add a little amount of salt as per your taste and one tea spoon of turmeric powder. You can stop at this point if you are not a fan of spicy food and savor the salty edition of this recipe. But if you are one among my category, and love spicy food, you can go a step further and add 1-2 tea spoons of Chilli powder and 1 tea spoon of chat masala. The above picture shows the before and after scenario of this recipe. Now that the recipe is ready, you can enjoy the self-prepared snack-'Chatpata kadlepuri' without having to ask anyone for help. I love this and you too can try this at home because cooking is the best way to start your journey on being independent. The ingredients that I have mentioned here is basically my usual and the most used ones because in almost anything that I prepare I would have used these items. So, this recipe is one of my own self discoveries and do let me know through comments if you have ever tried this or want to try this secret recipe of mine(which is no more a secret now) .
I would like to add a fact that the secret recipe for my happiness is contentness in what I do, being grateful and thankful to those who help and care for me, accepting the reality and not comparing myself to others. This has helped me in a long run and I feel if one inculcates this within him/her, it can become a tool for happiness for them as well ,as I am pretty sure that these affirmations are really powerful and can keep anyone happy all the time.
Even do you feel the same? Are you happy and content with whatever you do?
Hence, I leave you here with this thought and that's it for now. I will come up with a new blog every month. Please do check out my other blogs too in case if you haven't.
